Post 2 Politics and Personality
personalised chart
For the political compass, I was fairly on point with what I expected. I expect myself to be center left, taking a fairly liberal approach to the economy with regards to regulation, but still wanting to preserve the ownership of private land and the right to compete and sell in a free market. I also tended more towards a libertarian stance on social issues, as I believe the government should not try to interfere with private affairs of people that do not hurt other people. However, i feel this mainly reflects my position in U.S. politics, and that generally I would be considered centrist in Europe and extreme left in some Asian countries.

Your best fit is...

Opportunity Democrats

along with 12% of the public.

I did not like this test because it only gave me two choices to pick from, which I originally believe would cause my results to skew a little more left. However, I feel like this label best describes my beliefs, as while I do think there are still significant changes that need to be made in order to make the market more accessible, I still believe that for most people hard work and determination can help them thrive in the market. I also think that on social issues, it was also accurate as I believe that the government should not meddle in the private affairs of people, and that it should strive to conserve and protect the environment.

iSideWith
According to iSideWith, the candidates I most agree with are Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. Now I do not know much about Warren, but with Bernie I support a lot of his policies with taxing the rich more, and supporting universal healthcare. However, I do not think that his policies will pass, because the Republicans in Congress would not let them, but if he can increase taxes on the rich while lowering them on the poor, and implement some sort of universal health care, then I would consider his presidency a success.

Conclusion- Throughout this process, I realized that I am more left than I was before. I realized that I have a lot more faith in big government than I do in big bushiness's. I feel
that some of these corporations have way too much wealth, and that this wealth could be used in helping people via taxes. While this could decrease jobs, a new minimum wage law could also force CEO's and other high management positions to increase minimum wage. Overall, I feel like though the market should be free, that some of these corporations have way too much money and way too much power.
